The Simuka u Penye (Arise and Shine) program started in 2009 October. The main focus of the program is on Sexual Gender Based Violence, health rights, Social Behavioural Change Communication on migrants. It is situated in Musina, Tshipise valley but working in five farms (Dorren Estate, Alice Dale Estate, Hope Farm and Bricks, Uys Farm and Lank ge wag). Currently the program has recruited 60 volunteers who are known as change agents. They are both doing peer education and Home Based Care.
The change agents are farm workers who work from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday. The agreement with the farm owners is that, they conduct focus group discussions during lunch time and they conduct other activities after work. The Centre for Positive Care team normally conducts their activities on Saturday after work and on Sunday. The main reason is respect the agreement of the farm owners and not to disturb their work.
The target groups are migrants (South African citizens and Zimbabwean citizens) and youth, children and adults.
